Cunningham Looking To Push On

15 July 2016

After a successful first year at Deepdale, Greg Cunningham is looking to push on in the 2016/17 season.

The left back secured his place in the team for the season, missing just three games throughout the 2015/16 season, and collected two end of season awards for his efforts.

The Irishman won't be resting on his laurels this season though, and will be looking to improve during his second season with the Lilywhites.

"I've put the marker down now for my first season, so I've obviously put aims down for what I want to do this season and obviously improve and push on from what I did last season.

"It's going to be a completely different year again so I need to make sure that I hit the ground running like I did my first season and continue progressing."

As part of the pre-season preparations, the first team squad have been away in Ireland for a pre-season training camp. The 25-year-old has been enjoying the time away in his home country and feels the time away together will only benefit the strong bond the squad already have.

"It's been top drawer from the accommodation to the pitches, the gym, the food, it's been a great trip away.

"There's been some great training, and it helps being together for give or six days, it helps the new lads gel with the team. It gets all of the lads back together and it helps the staff be able to arrange training whenever they want with the double and triple sessions so it's been good and there's been a lot of hard work and graft.

"Team spirit is a massive part of any team and we have that here and it's great that the new lads that have come in and we are all gelling together a lot easier because we are all around each other 24/7.

"I think it is vital for a team to get away, even just for a couple of days, and get some team bonding exercises in and putting in the hard work together too. It unifies the team and we're looking forward to getting the season started soon."
