Manager Simon Grayson has been impressed but not surprised by the condition in which his squad have return to pre-season training.
Despite having the summer off, the lads have been working on their off-season programmes, and the gaffer feels that has shown in the first week or pre-season training.
"They've come back in good shape which we expected them to. They all had programmes to do over the summer, we know they are a good, honest bunch of players who want to keep improving all the time so their fitness levels are good.
"They are in good condition and the other lads who have joined over the last few weeks are in good condition too.
"I'm really pleased with them all, we've had a mixture of doing some running, some ball work, and the better condition that they are in, the more chance we have to do more football work.
"Given the choice they would rather do football work than running so overall it's been a good week. We have plenty of weeks to go before the big kick off, and that will be a mixture of building up game time on the pitches and work on the training ground as well to keep their fitness levels high.
"We're very impressed so far and I'm looking forward to the next few weeks with them as well."
