Gally On 'Tough But Enjoyable' Training Camp

12 July 2016

Paul Gallagher is enjoying the squad's trip away to Ireland, but admits that the sessions have been tough so far.

The squad have a triple session on Monday before a training game on Tuesday, and although it's an intense few days for the boys, the team are making the most of their time together.

"It's been an enjoyable first few days here, training has been quite intense but we are looking to get really fit and hit the ground running at the start of the season.

"You have to mix it up in pre-season sometimes, you have to do the hard work running and in the gym. It's a lot more advanced than years ago when you get the balls out early and enjoy it that way.

"The staff have mixed it up really well and all of the lads are enjoying it and the main focus for us is to be ready for the first game of the season.

The training camp has provided the perfect time for our summer signings to settle into the squad properly, and Gallagher knows this can only benefit the side going into the new season.

"It's good team bonding, we've taken the new lads in quickly and we've made them feel part of the squad which is good.

"We have a bike ride up to dinner which is interesting, Liam Grimshaw can't ride a bike, he had a lesson the other day and fell off a few times. It's quite funny to watch and he's been getting backies from Ben Pearson!

"We've been having a laugh with things like that but we are here to work hard. We've got a good spirit here so we try out best to do the hard work on the pitch then enjoy ourselves off it as well."
