Pearson Pleased With First Pre-Season At PNE

14 July 2016

Midfielder Ben Pearson is already feeling the benefits of his first pre-season with the Lilywhites.

After signing for PNE in January, the 21-year-old has enjoyed getting to know the lads even more while away in Ireland for pre-season training.

Speaking of the trip, Pearson said: "It's good to get out and get away from the training ground, get to know the new lads and to get everyone settled back in together.

"Training has been tough over the last week or so but that's what is expected from pre-season and all of the lads are looking in good nick and it's all going well training wise so you can't beat it really.

"I think you've just got to get on with it, every player will probably say it's the worst part of the season, there's no games, the training is tough and your body isn't used to it so it's even worse.

"But if you apply yourself well and you've kept yourself in good nick over the summer then it all just comes part and parcel with football, you've just got to get through it and you will reap the benefits of it through the season."

Despite being at the Club for six months, the Manchester United Academy product feels that there's still plenty to learn about his teammates ahead of the start of the 2016/17 season.

"I'm not a massive fan of pre-season obviously but when you start at a new club and you've not had that pre-season time to bond with the lads without games, I think it's good to properly kick on and start the Preston career that I've got ahead of me.

"It's good to get to know the lads even more, to get to know them as players football wise as well and so it's always better start with a full pre-season under your belt."
