Simon Grayson Delighted With Application Of The Players

8 July 2016

Manager Simon Grayson believed his side showed a 'good attitude' in their first work-out of the pre-season calendar.

A total of 25 PNE players took to the field at some stage as the gaffer, watching from the stands tried and tested numerous formations and players ready for the upcoming season in their first pre-season friendly against Bamber Bridge.

North End took the lead just inside the half hour mark when the ball cannoned off numerous players in the Brig area before trickling into the net with Matt Lawlor getting the final touch.

The Lilywhites, sporting the new blue away kit doubled their advantage through Eoin Doyle, who calmly slotted it past the out-stretching goalkeeper and into the net.

After the game, Grayson took to PNE Player to signal his content on the victory.

He said: "The lads showed a good attitude tonight; they played the ball and passed it well and did the jobs that they were required to do.

"The first-half was difficult for us but in the second-half we changed the system a little bit with different personal and the players worked extremely hard which gave us some good opportunities.

"We've come through the game with no injuries which is a big factor and now we turn our attentions to tomorrow again.

"It wasn't easy this morning to pick the team to try and utilise the players qualities and getting them in the positions and formations that we'll use throughout the season but it's good to have them options available and the main thing is, is that they've all come through the game tonight with no injuries and we'll look forward to the game tomorrow."
