Gally: "Preston Is My Team"

31 March 2016

Paul Gallagher will make his first return to Ewood Park as a player this weekend when PNE take on Blackburn Rovers.

The midfielder started his career in East Lancashire, but depsite his connections with Rovers, Gallagher sights are firmly set on three points for the Lilywhites.

"I've been looking forward to it for a long time. I went back there with Leicester but I was injured so I didn't get to play.

"When the fixtures came out at the beginning of the season it was always one that I was looking at and I'm sure there were a few other players here that were doing the same.

"We've come to the business end of the season now though and friendships go out of the window, it's about going out and getting three points.

"I've got friends and family in both ends, but when you get on that pitch you forget all about that and it's all about the team that you are playing for.

"I want to win as many games as I can for Preston North End, I probably see Preston as my team because I've played more games here than I did for Blackburn.

"It's going to be a good atmosphere and I can't wait for Saturday now, it's an early kick-off too which usually gives an added buzz so I'm sure around the town and the ground it will be really busy and it's one I'm looking forward to.

With 7,000 North End supporters behind the goal on Saturday, Gallagher is hoping to send the fans home happy from a local derby once again, as they have done twice already this season.

"When you get promoted to the Championship, you go to stadiums and experience the big crowds and we've done that a number of times this season but to have 7,000 PNE supporters behind that goal will be incredible.

"It will be an electric atmosphere, a local derby, and I'm sure there will be a few tackles flying in and we will have to play with our heads as well as our hearts.

"We go there looking to win the game, we did it the other week at Bolton where we had 4,500 fans. When you see that behind the goal, when we scored it was incredible and you want to send the fans home with the bragging rights."
