Hugill 'Can't Wait' For Gentry Day

10 March 2016

Jordan Hugill is hoping for an opportunity in the starting Xl this weekend, a prospect that excites the striker.

Hugill almost made an immediate impact off the bench on Tuesday night, with his header denied only be a brilliant save from Nottingham Forest keeper Dorus de Vries.

With frontman Joe Garner suspended following his tenth yellow card of the 2015/16 campaign, Hugill believes whoever steps into the starting line-up will be ready, and the 23-year-old would relish the opportunity should he be given the nod.

"An opportunity has risen with Garns being suspended for two games, and I'm pretty sure whoever steps up to fill that position, whether it's me, Doyle or Callum, we will be ready for the game come Saturday."

Speaking of Gentry Day, which takes place on Saturday, Hugill continued: "I was injured for the last Gentry Day but I heard a lot about it but I'm looking forward to this one. Especially with the amount of fans that are going to Bolton as well.

"It should be a brilliant day, brilliant atmosphere, and I'm looking forward to it and hopefully if I get the nod to start it will be a great day for me as well."

And Jordan has asked for the fans' assistance in his celebrations should he get on the scoresheet at the Macron Stadium: "If I score, goals aren't coming around very often for me at the moment, but I'm always confident so I hope someone throws me a hat for the celebration!"

It's the first of two derbies in three games for the Lilywhites, with a trip to Blackburn Rovers at the start of next month, and the Middlesbrough-born forward is looking forward to the derby atmosphere.

"I'm used the to Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough derbies, they are brilliant days out for everyone, when there's a lot of people there and both sets of fans are in full voice and it does effect you as players.

"When you're on the pitch and you hear 4,500 fans chanting it will only push the team on more I would have thought. It will be a brilliant day and I can't wait."
