PNE’s Futsal Team C Crowned Champions

24 March 2016

PNE’s futsal team C made it nine wins from nine and were crowned champions of the North West Division League Three.

North End went into the game knowing that a win would all but ensure their league title, and the Lilywhites wrapped up the win in style with a comprehensive 11-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Leeds Arena.

First year scholar Nathan Lindley was in inspired form in front of goal finding the net five times in the game. A hat-trick from Matthew Peart and goals from Darrell Swarbrick, Oliver Birkett and Matthew Bailey ensured the win was comfortable and the league was secured with three games to go.

After the game, education manager Graeme Atkinson spoke to the Club website on what’s been an encouraging year for the students, on and off the field.

“Today’s league win shows great togetherness, a philosophy at PNE that we strive to achieve to get results,” said Graeme.

“The plaudits go out to Kyle Armstrong [Futsal team coach] who unfortunately couldn’t be there on the day. Through the hard work our students have put in to their training, they can now celebrate a taste of success and compete at a National level.

“We are hoping our students can carry their success from the field into their studies and replicate their achievements academically.

“At Preston North End, our programme offers great opportunities that comes with working at a football club and with the resources that the club has at its disposal, it makes it a fantastic place to learn at a professional sports club.”

Here at Preston North End, we currently offer a L3 BTEC and FDa [Foundation Degree] in sport and community coaching to school leavers aged between 16 to 19-years of age. The BTEC level three extended diploma is equivalent to three A levels and provides students with the opportunity to go into higher education as well as preparing them for the sport and leisure industry.

Students will study and gain experience in sports coaching, officiating, analysis and developing fitness regimes for fit and injured players.

The students will also have the opportunity to represent their local club and play in competitive fixtures against other football league clubs.

To find out more, Preston North End will be hosting an open evening on Monday 18th April, and Monday 23rd May at the Guild Lounge, Invincibles Pavilion from 7pm.
