North End’s last gasp goalscorer Jordan Hugill was pleased to end the season ‘fittingly’ with an equaliser in the last minute.
Chris Wood fired the visitors in front from the spot mid-way through the second half and it took the grit and determination of Hugill to steal the ball from the byline before eventually finding the net to earn North End a point in their final game of the 2015/16 season.
The draw see’s North End finish the season on a high and in 11th place, and the Boro born forward believed it was fitting that the last few minutes of North End’s season was spent celebrating Hugill’s finish.
Speaking to PNEPlayerHD, he said: “I don’t think we were at our best but it’s a testament to our season that we’ve finished in the top half and we’ve proved we have the spirit and capability to do it on the pitch.
“It’s good to get the goal; we would have been happier to finish the season off with a win but we’ve achieved so much this year.
“I’ll never give anything up and if I think I’ve got a chance of nicking the ball, I will. I just worked my hardest to get the goal back and I got lucky.
“It was brilliant day for me on a personal level but I would have been happier with the win but we’ll enjoy that one.
“I wanted to prove myself to Championship players and prove that I can score goals at this level and I felt I could. I was just pleased for the lads more than anything considering the season we’ve had as well.”
