PNE 1 Leeds United 1

Jordan Hugill rescued a point for the Lilywhites in injury time to draw the 2015/16 to a close at Deepdale.

The No.25 slammed home after good work to win the ball himself on the byline, levelling up after Chris Wood’s earlier penalty after Chris Kirkland had brought down Mirco Antenucci.

Marnick Vermijl came in for Greg Cunningham in the only change to the side that was victorious at Reading in the final away game of the weekend.

In a fairly quiet first half the Lilywhites still created the better chances. On 21 minutes a corner from Paul Gallagher came out to the skipper and he crossed perfectly to the edge of the six yard box, but Joe Garner headed wide from eight yards out, with Silvestri beaten.

Just before the half hour mark Daniel Johnson found Adam Reach on the left of the box; he fired across goal; Marco Silvestri spilled it, but grabbed the ball at the second attempt ahead of Garner.

Leeds United’s Chris Wood lobbed Chris Kirkland, but onto the roof of the net from 20 yards after a long ball from Silvestri on 31 minutes.

But the best chance came a minute before half-time when Reach again found time on the left, this time fed by Garner; he put it back across for Garner to meet, but the No.14 powered his header wide of the left hand post.

Seven minutes into the second half and North End capitalised on a mistake by Cook and Reach raced into the box; squaring it for Beckford, only for the ball to eventually fall for Garner, but his low shot was straight at Silvestri who easily claimed.

Chris Kirkland was called into action on 59 minutes as Chris Wood, unmarked ten yards out, headed downwards, only for the keeper to make a fine diving stop to push the ball behind for a corner.

With 12 minutes to go Chris Kirkland brought down Antenucci and referee Andy Haines awarded a penalty that Chris Wood hammered down the middle of the goal to give the visitors the lead.

With five minutes left Substitute Callum Robinson went down the left and crossed to the back post where Reach fed Gallagher, who drive to the byline and pulled the ball back only for Samba to seemingly clear with his arm, but the referee only gave a corner and not a penalty.

Calum Woods forced a fine save out of Silvestri with a brilliant effort from 25 yards across the goal towards the top right hand corner and from the corner Adam Reach had the ball in the net only for the linesman’s flag to go up for offside.

But in the second minute of stoppage time the Lilywhites got the equaliser. Jordan Hugill did brilliantly on the line to hold the ball in play, drove inside, found Doyle only for his shot to be blocked but Hugill was there to follow up and drive home from ten yards out.
