Maxwell: "I Want To Be Number One"

16 May 2016

Preston North End's first signing of the summer Chris Maxwell has already set his sights on being No.1 at Deepdale.

The goalkeeper will officially join PNE on 1st July after signing a three-year contract, and the 25-year-old has high hopes for his time with North End and was delighted after signing his deal.

"It's a fantastic club, it's the biggest club in Lancashire and I've heard nothing but positive things about it and it's a really exciting time for me.

"I've had plenty of advice from people who have spent many, many years here and there's nothing but positive feedback.

"Theres' a fantastic fanbase, and a fantastic stadium which I have been lucky enough to play in a few times, and also a very experienced manager too so it's really positive from my point of view and I can't wait to get started.

"I'm hoping that over the next few years I can progress as a footballer, playing with experienced Championship players and staff as well, and I'm really looking forward to it and looking forward to showing what I can do."

Speaking of his main aim, Chris continued: "I want to be the number one for Preston North End, it's as simple as that. I will fight day in, day out for that and when my chance comes I will make sure I take it and that is my main aim.

"It's a fantastic stadium, fantastic atmosphere and it's one that you want to play in week in, week out. It's perfect for me, and I just want to get going now."

And having signed so early in the summer, Maxwell knows he will have to be patient in the build up to the new season: "It comes with anything in life, you've got to be patient and wait for your time, it's up to me to take my chance and really progress here at Preston and hopefully progress the Club as well."
