Bailey Wright On 200 Up For PNE

19 November 2016

Bailey Wright spoke to PNE PlayerHD after making 200 club appearances for North End in the goalless draw to Wolves today.

Following his return from International duty to training on Thursday, 'Bails' slotted straight back in at centre half on his 200th appearance for the club, aiding the cause by restricting Wolves to limited opportunities in front of goal.

However, North End didn't have it all their own way at the other end of the field, with Wolves playing their first game under the stewardship of Paul Lambert, and Wright felt the game plan of the visitors made it hard for North End to express themselves this afternoon.

"We had our chances to win the game and as you can see they were happy with the point," said Wright on the goalless affair.

"We've had the International break and it was important for us to get the win but we just didn't quite get the three points but we'll work hard this week and prepare for our next game."

One chance in particular that North End did have came courtesy of Jordan Hugill who fired just over the bar in the dying seconds - yet the Australian felt the Lilywhites had enough chances to win the game regardless.

He added: "He's (Jordan Hugill) been in great form with the goals he's been scoring and he's really been enjoying his football lately so I'm gutted for him that he couldn't score, but we had plenty of other chances to find the net to win us the game.

"You could see right from the start of the game that they were here to make it difficult for us. Credit to them that they worked hard, chased and made it hard for us to try and get in our rhythm, but even so, we deserved something from it, but when a new manager comes in and puts his imprint on the team it makes it difficult for us but we move on."

As mentioned previously, this afternoon was a significant milestone for Preston North End's Australian with the defender making his 200th senior appearance in a Lilywhite shirt and Wright spoke of his delight of the achievement.

"It felt like yesterday since I made my debut," continued Wright on reaching his double century of appearances.

"I knew the other week that I was coming up to my 200th appearances but then I forgot all about it until just now. It's been a good ride and to get to my 200th appearance today is good and hopefully there's more to come."
