Manager Simon Grayson felt the way his side came out of the traps was key to their win this afternoon.
The defeats' to Newcastle aside, the Lilywhites went into the game on a great run of form which was evident from minute one where PNE took the game to their opponents.
Jordan Hugill sparked the win on 22 minutes heading home to give North End the lead, and the gaffer felt that the Lilywhites didn't look back from then on in.
"We're happy to come away from home and win the game 3-1 especially when it could have easily have been more," said Grayson to the club's media channel after the game.
"The key things were that we started the game well - we matched them off the ball; didn't let them play and when we got the ball we passed it around and created some good opportunities.
"When we were under pressure we kept our shape and stuck to the gameplan and ultimately came out as winners and they could have scored a few more goals.
"We had Paul Gallagher and Daniel Johnson in there today so why not use them? we got into a position where we worked it and got the goal and I think that was warranted from the start we made."
