Cunningham Excited By October Fixtures

6 October 2016

PNE defender Greg Cunningham is looking forward to a challenging month of games for the Lilywhites.

North End started the month in style with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at  Deepdale, and the Irishman is confident going into the rest of this month's fixtures.

"It's a tough run of fixtures but when you look at how we fared against the top teams last year then we can go into those games with great confidence.

"The Villa game was a great performance and a great result for us, with the squad they have they shouldn't really be where they are but that's how competitive this league is.

"We are looking forward to the games. The performances for the majority of the games this season have been there, we have just been unlucky with a few results, but those results have come for us and deservedly so.

"We're looking forward to kicking on and enjoying these coming games."

Cunningham will miss the first of North End's fixtures after the international break after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Speaking of his suspension, the 25-year-old continued: "It's frustrating picking up yellow cards but whatever team the gaffer picks will do a great job down there."

"I'm obviously disappointed with it being such a big game but that's part and parcel of the rules.

"I just need to make sure I keep on top of my fitness and be ready for whenever the gaffer calls upon me in the games after that."
