Gaffer Looking To End Month On A High

27 October 2016

Manager Simon Grayson is hoping to end October on a high with a positive result against Newcastle United on Saturday.

North End are unbeaten in the league this month, and have picked up an impressive ten points from a possible 12 from a tough run of fixtures and the PNE boss is hoping his side can bounce back from their cup defeat on Tuesday this weekend.

Speaking of the clash, the gaffer said: "When everybody looked at the fixtures in June when they came out everybody would be thinking that Newcastle would be a tough fixture for us.

"It will be a fantastic game, there will be a big following from the opposition, a big home crowd, and the fact we are coming off the back of a defeat against them.

"We are obviously disappointed about that but we have to remember we have taken ten points from the last 12 available. We have beaten some good teams and drew at Brighton as well so we are looking forward to it."

The Lilywhites have already beaten high flying Huddersfield Town and Norwich City in recent weeks, as well as a terrific victory over Aston Villa at the start of the month. Having proven they are able to compete with the big sides in this division, the manager wants more of the same at Deepdale against the Magpies.

"We know we didn't do too well on Tuesday night, we let ourselves down both individually and collectively as a group but it's a fantastic opportunity to put things right very quickly.

"What we have done in the past when we have had a disappointing performance, we have bounced back very quickly, we are on a good run of form, we won't let the confidence be hit by the result on Tuesday night.

"We have to learn from the mistakes that we made, but we have to be positive in our approach and try and replicate similar performances to those that we've spoken about like Aston Villa and Huddersfield at home and get on the front foot and try and get three points again.

"It's going to be a tough test because of the players we are up against but we have thrived off those opportunities so far, let's get Deepdale rocking and hopefully we can get another three points to keep us where we are and keep pushing up the league."
