Makienok Hoping For More Cup Magic

24 October 2016

Striker Simon Makienok is hoping to make an impact once again in the EFL Cup against Newcastle United.

The striker scored three goals to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition with victory over Premier League side AFC Bournemouth in the previous round.

Makienok is aiming to take his opportunity once again as PNE look to continue their impressive run of late with victory on Tuesday night. Speaking of the tie he said: "The last game was special, I scored three goals and now I am thinking about the next round.

"I am not thinking too much about those goals now, I am taking my confidence from it and also scoring in the league a couple of games ago.

"I'm just going to bring my confidence and my game into the match and not really think about what happened in the past but go out there and do I what I do and hopefully that can help the team win the game and maybe score a goal again.

"The most important thing is helping the team and hopefully we can get a win and get through."

After an unbeaten month so far for the Lilywhites, Makienok sees no reason why Simon Grayson's side can't progress to the quarter finals.

"We knew we had some very big games coming up this month but so far we have done great in every one of them so there is a lot of confidence in the team.

"We are going to go to Newcastle and hopefully keep on doing what we are doing and we will be going for the win as always.

"It's a nice game at a big stadium, but we are on a good run so there's no reason why we can't go through in the cup.
