Baptiste On A 'Massive Game'

22 September 2016

Summer signing Alex Baptiste is hoping PNE can come out on top in Friday night's local derby against Wigan Athletic.

The 30-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough, is hoping the squad can build on the terrific win on Tuesday night against Bournemouth, and put behind them the result in the last league match against Brentford.

"Obviously we needed to put Saturday's result out of our minds and the lads certainly did that on Tuesday.

"From the outside looking in it looks like we got battered but that definitely wasn't the case and they sit fifth in the league so obviously there are a lot of things that we needed to work on and the lads have put it into practice on Tuesday night.

"It's important that we now get a good run going now, we've got a massive game on Friday so hopefully we can get three points."

"It's live on Sky, it's got that added incentive of a local derby, both teams are at the wrong end of the table and want to start pushing on so we need to make sure we come out of this one on top.

"We need to start winning games in the league and climb up this table.

Having been a the club for a couple of weeks now, Baptiste is starting to feel more settled in PR1 and his aim is to help PNE climb the table after a difficult start to the season.

"Personally I've felt that I've done ok, it's good to be back playing as it's been a while."

"It takes time to bed in and to get to know the lads and to get to know how they play and things like that but I'm enjoying it, I'm enjoying the challenge and we go again now on Friday.

"I need to get to know people, the staff, how the club runs and it's hard but I'm really enjoying my time here and if we can start climbing up the league I will enjoy it even more."
