Clarke And Co. 'Buzzing' Ahead Of Bees Test

15 September 2016

Tom Clarke is hoping PNE can hold on to that winning feeling this weekend at Griffin Park.

North End make the trip to Brentford on Saturday and Clarke is hoping to build on the momentum from the terrific win on Tuesday night against Cardiff City.

"With the result it brings confidence and coming into training the lads are buzzing and we want to keep that feeling going.

"We know it's going to be a difficult game, we've done our work on them now and know what they are about and it's going to be a difficult game, it's a tough place to go but we are going there with confidence and hopefully we can get a good result."

Clarke opened the scoring at Deepdale against the Bluebirds, and the PNE skipper admitted that the first goal can be crucial in a very competitive division like the Championship.

"Teams are strong in these league so when they go a goal ahead they tend to hold on tight and stay in front.

"We are just glad that we could take our chances this time, and kick on from that first goal.

"We played really well, created a lot and kept that back door shut which was really good.

Speaking of that first goal on Tuesday night, Clarke admitted it has been frustrating for the central defenders who hadn't got on the score sheet since Paul Huntington's goal at Wembley in 2015.

"It's been frustrating for all us, speaking to each other about it it's been difficult because we want to contribute as much as we can.

"Obviously we want clean sheets but we want to help the other side of it with the strikers so I'm just glad that we could get off the mark and hopefully we can kick on from there."
