Tom Clarke was delighted to commit his future to PNE after a successful few years at Deepdale.
The new deal will keep Clarke in PR1 until the summer of 2019 and the North End captain was happy to have completed the deal.
“I’m just glad that it’s over the line now. I’ve been in talks for a while, just glad that it’s done and it’s all in the bag now, I can concentrate on the football.”
“We’ve been concentrating on the games in hand but you always want to know that for your family and security, in football, that it’s there.”
“I’m thankful that it’s over the line now and I can focus on the games coming up.”
The defender joined the club in May 2013 and got off to the best possible start when he scored the winner against Blackpool in the 87th minute in just his second appearance for North End.
Clarke has become an integral part of Simon Grayson’s side and helped guide the club to back-to-back Play-Off campaigns in League One, winning promotion to the Championship in 2015.
The defender is proud of everything he has gone onto achieve since then, saying: “I couldn’t have asked for a better start. To sign for this big club when I did and to achieve what we have done, to play the games I have done in the period that I have been here, I’m really pleased.”
“When I first came that was my aim, to play as many games as I can and be fit. I feel like I have done that and been available for every game that I could. To play over 150 games is a good testament to myself.”
Clarke is one of a number of first team players to commit their futures to the club in recent weeks with both Paul Huntington and Daniel Johnson signing new deals with the club over the summer.
The defender is pleased with the Club’s business this summer, both in terms of keeping the squad together as well as some welcome additions.
“To do so well and keep these players together and add the players that we have done to the group it’s been good.
“Hopefully we can kick on now in this busy period coming up, with the new players that are in and hopefully it bodes well for the next game.”
