Manager Simon Grayson won't be getting carried away after a terrific win against Cardiff City in midweek.
North End deservedly picked up the three points on Tuesday night at Deepdale but the manager is now focused on doing more of the same on Saturday afternoon as PNE make the trip down south to face Brentford.
Speaking of the feeling within the group, the manager said: "I don't think confidence has ever dwindled really, but obviously when you get a good, emphatic victory like we did the other night there's bound to be a spring in the step of everybody.
"We need to make sure we don't get too carried away, in the same way that we don't get too low when we've lost a couple of games.
"We were delighted with the performance, with the energy the players showed and the quality that they showed and the manner in which we finished the game off as well.
"That's all in the past, we've got to make sure that we carry things forward from the other night into a tough game against Brentford on Saturday.
The Brentford squad will also be in high spirits after picking up four points from their last two games on the road, and the manager knows what to expect from Dean Smith's side this weekend.
"We know that going to Griffin Park is going to be difficult anytime but they have certainly had a good positive week winning at Brighton and getting a point at Aston Villa.
"We will be respectful of the opposition but ultimately we have got to build off what we did on Tuesday night."
"We know what to expect, we will have to be on our toes, make sure we are alert to everything and deal with anything they throw at us.
"Ultimately as well we have got to play with the composure that we had on the ball, the pace and the energy that we had and that creativity that has been missing a bit over the start of the season which we seem to have at this moment in time."
