Hugill On Thunderous Strike

13 September 2016

It wasn't just the weather that caused a storm at Deepdale this evening.

Jordan Hugill was delighted to put the icing on the cake of a terrific performance after adding the third to PNE's 3-0 win against Cardiff this evening.

With North End 2-0 up and three minutes left on the clock, Hugill let loose a ferocious drive from the edge of the box, and within a flash the ball rifled into the top corner on a night were thunder and lightning struck at Deepdale.

"I didn't really know much about it!" said Hugill on his goal to PNE PlayerHD after the final whistle.

"I just ran at the defender and got a chance and I thought I'd hit it - as soon as it left my foot I knew it was going in so I was already running off to celebrate.

"Everybody worked their socks off tonight and gave it 100 percent and we got what we deserve.

"It didn't quite work for us Saturday but we knew if we performed as well as we did then we'd have got a result.

"On Saturday, we deserved to win but we didn't dwell on it and as you saw tonight, we're buzzing with tonight's victory.

"It was a brilliant team performance."
