Paul Gallagher Extends His Deepdale Stay

14 September 2016

Paul Gallagher has agreed a contract extension at Preston North End.

The North End No.12, in his third spell with the Lilywhites has put pen to paper on a new deal that will take his stay at Deepdale until at least the summer of 2018.

Whilst he has only been a contracted player with the Lilywhiteas since the summer of 2015, ‘Gally’, who turned 32 last week, has racked up well over 160 appearances in a PNE shirt in this spell and his three previous loan spells and he feels the club are getting the very best out of him.

“I think I am playing the best football of my career and I'm probably the happiest I have been in my career too, if you are happy you are going to perform on the pitch.” said the former Leicester City man.

Manager Simon Grayson has now had captain Tom Clarke, current player of the year Greg Cunningham, Paul Huntington, Daniel Johnson and now Gallagher all commit their long term futures to the club in the last fortnight and he feels that this is a positive sign of intent.

He added: “We are glad to get another player signed and Paul Gallagher comes into that bracket of the experienced players who are hoping to keep playing but also help develop the younger players so we are delighted.

“He plays a big part in how we play as a team and so we are delighted he has signed a new deal and it’s another key player that we have secured for another year.”
