Wright Feeling Benefits Of Break

2 September 2016

North End defender Bailey Wright is enjoying a rare break after a busy start to the 2016/17 campaign.

Bailey Wright and his teammates are midway through the international break, before the Championship action returns on 10th September at home to Barnsley.

The Aussie would usually be away with Australia representing his national side at this stage in the season but is enjoying working hard on the training pitch and recovering from a hectic first month of the season.

“Look at the last few seasons, I’ve been more and more involved in the internationals, you tend to find you are a lot busier. You’re away but you wouldn’t change that.”

“I’ve got the opportunity now to get a little rest in. I have been playing with a little bit of an injury so it is an opportunity to get that sorted for a busy period coming up.”

“We have to be fully prepared for what is thrown at us because it’s a busy schedule in the league.”

The Lilywhites have collected three points from their first six matches but Wright is not worried about the results so far.

“Obviously we have not had the greatest of starts to the standards we have set ourselves but we know we will come good.

“We have to be fully prepared for what is thrown at us because it’s a busy schedule in the league. With games every Saturday and Tuesday, they come thick and fast, but that is how you want it.

“It’s not how you start a season it is how you finish a season. It’s been close in games and it’s the fine margins that win you games sometimes.

“It’s not just a matter of tweaking things you keep doing what you are doing and you get better at it and things will start going you way.”

It has been a busy few days for PNE following the capture of three signings on deadline day.

The central defender thinks the new recruits will be a spring board to better results for the Lilywhites.

Speaking of the latest additions, the 24-year-old continued: “Obviously we have had the transfer window and we’ve made a few good signings to add that strength to the squad.”

“It adds strength to the squad and it brings a bit of confidence in everyone here.”

“New players can come in, freshen things up and give us what we need to get winning.”
