Wright On Premier League Test

19 September 2016

Defender Bailey Wright is looking forward to the opportunity to test himself against Premier League side AFC Bournemouth in the EFL Cup.

After beating Hartlepool United and Oldham Athletic in the previous rounds, PNE travel to the Vitality Stadium in the third round of the Cup on Tuesday night.

Speaking to PNE PlayerHD ahead of the game, the Australia international said: "We enjoy the opportunity to play against some top teams that play in the Premier League. Bournemouth are a good side who play good football and they are a team we are quite familiar with.

"Obviously they've gone up through the leagues and we played them in this round last year so we know it will be a tough test but we are looking forward to it.

"It's an opportunity to put Saturday behind us and move on to tomorrow."

Wright is looking to return to the starting Xl against the Cherries after a brief spell on the bench after recovering from a toe injury.

Both sides are set to make changes on the on Tuesday, and the 24-year-old feels it is a good opportunity for the players involved to stake their claim on the team ahead of Friday's clash with Wigan Athletic at Deepdale.

"Every team in the Premier League has got a strong squad, even Championship teams have strong squads, so whatever team they play, they are going to be a strong team and will have good players coming in, players that want that shirt week in week out.

"They are very similar to us, we've got competition for places and whoever gets their opportunity tomorrow, it's a chance to grab that shirt and make sure you keep it for Friday.

"They've got good depth and that's what you expect when you come up against sides like that but we're confident we can go there and get the win."
