Grayson Wants ‘Ruthless’ Lilywhites Against Huddersfield

12 April 2017

Good Friday Simon Grayson returns to former club Huddersfield Town aiming to get all three points.

The Yorkshire club sit third in the Championship with six games remaining and look likely to finish in the Play-Off positions come the end of the season.

Grayson spoke to PNE PlayerHD ahead of the away trip and believes that the Terriers are this season’s surprise package, saying: “When you look at Huddersfield now it is a club that has probably surprised a lot of people in where they are in the division.

“They are up there for a reason. They have been very consistent throughout the year, they play expansive football, are very difficult to play against and rightly so are in the Play-Offs and still with an outside chance of automatic promotion.

“I think I said last year that they were one of the best teams we had played over the two games home and away. They have carried that forward into this year and it is a tough game for us.”

Grayson wants to put the Leeds United game behind him with a win and feels the club must continue pushing for the Play-Offs places in the remaining games.

“Off the back of the Leeds result we want to try and get back to winning ways and we would like to finish the season with as many points as possible.

“We are not giving up on hopes of a Play-Off position because there will be lots of twists and turns before the end of the season.

“I realise it is going to be difficult but we will keep on going until the very end. We need to go there and get a result.”

In the reverse fixture in October, the Lilywhites beat Huddersfield 3-1 at Deepdale. Grayson is hoping that the team can replicate the result and stressed the importance of taking chances against quality opposition.

“I think when we played them the early part of the season I think Huddersfield were in the top two or three so they were on a very good run of form.

“That night we stopped them from playing, we were dominant with the ball, we took our chances when they came along and that was a springboard into a month where we had some really tough games. This weekend we need to be ruthless in both boxes.”
