Ben Pearson will miss the next three games after picking up his 15th yellow card of the season at Huddersfield Town...

...but regardless of what happens over this final quartet of regular league games, he has been delighted with what has gone before and when he sat down with The One And Only this week, he felt that this season had given him a belief in his game that he can take forward into next season.

“It has been a good season for myself,” he told the official matchday programme. “From getting in the team in October, to keep my place until the end of the season nearly has been a good season for me.

“At the start of the season I wanted to play 30, 40, 50 games, but it took a bit of time for me to get into the side, but since then I haven’t looked back and I have been happy with the season and the progress I have made.

“The only games I have missed have unfortunately been due to suspension and I could miss three more before the season is over, but I just have to keep playing my game.

“Over the course of the six months I have been in the side we have been doing well. I think it is something like five defeats in the last 32 games, so the team has been doing really well and picking up points wherever we have been.

“It was all about establishing myself in the Championship this season. The key for me was to really enjoy playing at this level and to realise that I can cope here as well, because previously I had never played here or at the level, so I didn’t really know the standard that it took.

“You start to questions yourself, ‘can I play at this level?’, but I think that this season, along with quite a few other players, we have realised that we are good enough to play at this level and can take the club forward.”
