DJ Pleased Hard Work Is Coming To Fruition

26 August 2017

Daniel Johnson took to iFollow this evening to credit yet another impressive performance from North End where they were extremely unlucky not to take all three points.

North End's No. 11 has been a key figure in Alex Neil's first five league games in charge which has seen the Lilywhites record four clean sheets, win two, draw two and lose just the one - all against sides with high expectations this year.

And having been part of North End for almost three years now, DJ has belief that this side can have another successful campaign.

"We looked at the stats at the end of the game and you can see that the performance was really good today and even though we got a point we felt we deserved three," stated Johnson after the final whistle.

"Having come close last year, we have that belief that we can get into the play-offs and we've started really well and we just need to keep that going"

"We've been working really hard on the training field to keep clean sheets. Four clean sheets in five games so you can tell that we've been working really hard.

"We've just got to keep that belief in the team; we're a good team, we've got a great bunch of lads and we've just got to keep that belief in the team and see where it takes us."

North End head into the International break having faced sides with talent at both ends of the field, none more so than this afternoon with Britt Assombalonga leading the line alongside Rudy Gestede.

He continued: "We knew they had threats with Britt Assombalonga but I thought the centre backs dealt with him really well. Coming here, we knew they would want to start quick and our objective was to start quicker than them and play in their half and that was the most important thing - pinning them in and that's what we did and I thought we just didn't get that break today.

"We'll have a little break now which we fully deserve and we'll go again.

"We've played the so called big teams and we've done really well so we're going to enjoy our little break now, recover and get ready to go again against Barnsley at home."
