Stephy Mavididi Joins PNE On Season Long Loan

4 August 2017

Preston North End have completed the signing of Arsenal forward Stephy Mavididi on a season long loan.

The England U19 international put pen to paper on Friday evening ahead of the 2017/18 season opener against Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale.

The 19-year-old, who spent time on loan at Charlton Athletic last season, will wear the No.27 shirt and also has permission to play in all cup competitions for the Lilywhites.

Speaking about his new recruit, manager Alex Neil said: "I think he’ll bring pace and a directness from either a wider area or a central nine. He’s one of the players that can fluctuate between any of the top four – he can play on either flank, he’s played as a ten he’s played as a nine.

"He’s got real pace and power and I think he’ll be a real top player at some stage. We want to try and help the development of that for our benefit and for his. I think it’ll make some good business.

"I think he’s a perfect fit for us certainly in terms of attributes that we like to have in the team and he’ll give us that."

Stephy, who will be available from Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie with Accrington Stanley, was delighted to complete his move, adding: "I’m delighted to get it over the line, I’m happy to sign and now I’m ready to kick on for the new season.

"I just want to put on that shirt and run out do well. I’m buzzing, I can’t wait to get started now."
