The man of the hour, Aiden McGeady cut a delighted figure when he spoke to the club's media channel after the game.
Speaking to PNE PlayerHD after the game, the Irish International believed today's game summed up perfectly his spell at North End.
"It's been a while since I've scored a couple of goals," said McGeady after the full-time whistle.
"It's been a great day all round and I've been enjoying my football here - it's been a breath of fresh air for me. I've not played that much in the last few years but I've enjoyed everything about it so far."
It threatened to not be an enjoyable Saturday afternoon when Brentford's Tom Field headed the visitors in front inside 12 minutes, but McGeady felt North End's equaliser six minutes later set the tone for a great day for himself, and for all PNE supporters.
McGeady continued: "Getting the equaliser at half-time certainly helped us and from that point on, we dominated the game and we could have ended up winning the game five or six.
It's down to us to build on this. We've had a good season and everybody probably doesn't want to mention it, but we want to try and get towards the Play-Offs. if we can keep it up, I think we've got the squad to cover that.
On his brace, the winger added: "The first one, I just got the ball and I was expecting the defence to come and press me but the gap opened up, I had the shot, and I thought it was going wide but it just turned at the last minute and went in the bottom corner. The second goal, well you don't really know why you do these things, they just happen naturally, A gap opened up and it went in so I'm delighted."
