Callum's Heading In The Right Direction

14 February 2017

PNE's Callum Robinson was glad to have grabbed a goal tonight for more reasons than one.

North End's number 37 opened the scoring in PNE's 2-1 victory over Birmingham City this evening with a well composed header past the out-stretching Tomasz Kuszczak.

The goal was even more pleasing for Callum after making it his aim this season to improve on his heading.

"I think that's my third headed goal today," told Robinson when he spoke to PNEPlayerHD after the game.

"I've joked about it at the start but my aim was always to get better. If I'm playing up front, I need to head the ball and need to get more goals, if I can carry on scoring goals with my head and with my feet then the more chance I have of scoring goals.

"But I'm really happy to get another goal and for us to get the win; It's a big win."

Tonight's game was touch and go for Robinson after undergoing a late fitness test prior to tonight's game, making tonight's goal and win all the more sweeter for the former Villa man.

"I had to go in and do a fitness test as it was a little bit sore but it was sorted in the end. It was good to get in the starting team again and to knock in a goal.
"Me and Jordan have got a good relationship on the pitch and we've been working hard. When you've got players like Geads (Aiden McGeady) and Daryl (Horgan) coming in, you can leave them to it and just worry about your movement inside the box so I'm really enjoying it and my striking role.

"Maybe earlier in the season I've been drifting out wide but the quality we've got now from the wing, we just leave to the one vs ones and we know we've got good deliveries coming in from the box."
