Defender Ben Davies was delighted to sign a new three-year deal with the club on Friday.
The PNE Academy graduate enjoyed a loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season, and after the victory over the Cod Army, the 21-year-old put pen to paper on a new contract, securing his future at the club until at least 2020.
On the deal, Davies said: "I'm over the moon, I came back in pre-season not really knowing what to expect but obviously trying to make my stamp in the team and with the new manager coming in and showing faith in me it's a great boost so I'm delighted.
"I came back a lot more confident and that paired with the manager coming in and showing faith in me, I feel like a different player this year.
"I think the days of playing full back are behind me now and I can concentrate on playing more in the centre of defence and getting us playing from the back and keeping clean sheets.
"I like passing the ball about and the gaffer wants to have a lot of possession and play attacking, exciting football. We are young and hungry so we are all looking forward to what the season might bring. Not just this season, but the coming seasons too."
With the new deal signed, Davies is now focussing on cementing a place in the side under manager Alex Neil.
"That's what it's about, it's about playing football and I want to try and nail down some games this year and with the security of three years then I can do that and focus on playing well for Preston North End.
"The manager has come in and he's given everyone a fair share, especially myself, I've played plenty and I am happy with where my fitness is at and I really want to take that into the season and see where we can get to.
