Callum Robinson can't wait for the new season to get underway this weekend when PNE host Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale.
Robinson has been in good form throughout pre-season, scoring three goals in the process, and the 22-year-old is looking forward to the return of competitive action.
Speaking to iFollow ahead of the start of the new campaign, Robinson said: "I'm really excited and looking forward to Saturday and even training already, I know there is a game at the end of the week which is good so I'm really looking forward to it.
"As a team I think we have been great through pre-season, we've won most games, we've been really good. We've obviously changed the style of how we want to play and we want to play more football and work out from the back but we can still be direct as well so I'm really enjoying it.
"I think the other lads are enjoying it as well so it's really good to be in the final third with the combination play, through balls and crosses and it's good at the moment.
The forward is enjoying the new style of play under manager Alex Neil and feels the gaffer will have plenty of decisions to make ahead of a tough game against Wednesday this weekend.
"There is a lot of competition going into the game but that's what all the lads want and it's what the manager will want. We've got a lot of games coming up this month so there will probably be some rotation but the squad is really strong at the moment.
"It's going to be very tough, they've got some really good players with good creativity but I think what we've got is what matters and what we do.
"I think if we can bring what we've been doing pre-season and our fitness into that game then we will do great."
And the former Aston Villa youngster is hoping the fans will be out to back the boys this weekend as they look to kick-off the season on a high.
"As a player you love when the fans come out and they are supporting you and singing and backing you all the way which will be good for us and that will help us, not just for Saturday but throughout the season."
