International Debuts For Boyle And Horgan

29 March 2017

PNE pair Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan pulled on the green jersey for the first time as they made their international debuts against Iceland.

The duo had first been called up to Marin O'Neill's squad back in November, but were set to make their first appearance for the Republic of Ireland.

In the 62nd minute of the international friendly against Iceland, the pair became two of four debutants on the night as they played the remaining half an hour of the game.

Boyle was solid at the back and Horgan impressed at the opposite end of the pitch after receiving a terrific reception as he entered the field. Despite the game ending in a 1-0 defeat, it will no doubt be a memorable night for the PNE boys.

The night marked a memorable year for the pair after winning the League of Ireland, getting their move to Preston North End and now showcasing their talents on the international stage.

You will be able to hear more from Boyle and Horgan on their debuts this week on PNE.Com.

North End teammate Aiden McGeady picked up his 88th cap for the national side as he started the game before being replaced on 72 minutes.

The trio will return to training this week ahead of the return to Championship football on Saturday as the Lilywhites take on Nottingham Forest at Deepdale.
