Deepdale Duck Acknowledged For Special Award

2 May 2017

Preston North End's Deepdale Duck has been awarded by the EFL with a special award: 'Making The Most Of Your Mascot' for the 2016/17 season.

North End's charismatic and loveable mascot was recognised by the EFL who commended the Duck's engagement on a matchday, in particular its use of social media with more than 2,000 people following the antics of Deepdale Duck on Twitter!

The award follows on from North End achieving the Family Excellence Award once again for this campaign.

On the honour, Head of Community Andy Haythornthwaite said: "As a football club, we recognise how important it is to provide a family friendly atmosphere, where all ages can come and enjoy what we offer on a matchday, and the Deepdale Duck plays a major role in helping us achieve this.

"We're glad our dedication to making Deepdale a place to be for all of the family has been recognised in the form of these awards."

Some of the new items in place for this season saw the Deepdale Duck introduce a schedule enabling fans to know exactly where the Duck was on a matchday, ensuring new and current fans could catch the Duck before every game on a matchday.

The schedule featured in the matchday programme and around the ground before every home fixture, whilst his presence was advertised regular on the Twitter page allowing fans to engage with the Duck on a whole new level.

A reminder that you can follow Deepdale Duck on his Twitter page @Deepdale_Duck.
