Calum Woods and Josh Earl will both be scanned to assess the seriousness of what appeared to be medial ligament injuries suffered in Wednesday night’s clash with Aston Villa.
The loss of two further defenders, added to Tom Clarke (Achilles), Greg Cunningham (knee), Tommy Spurr (knee), Ben Davies (appendectomy) and also Marnick Vermijl and John Welsh, who have both missed the last couple of games, gives manager Alex Neil plenty to consider.
He does welcome Paul Huntington back from suspension, whilst Andy Boyle and Kevin O’Connor look set to continue after making their first league appearances of the season against the Villans at Deepdale.
With only two days between the games, the manager may also choose to freshen up his side elsewhere, with Paul Gallagher – a second half substitute against Steve Bruce’s side – and Daryl Horgan, both pushing for an involvement.
