Maguire Makes Ireland Debut

6 October 2017

PNE striker Sean Maguire made his senior debut for Republic of Ireland in their 2-0 win over Moldova this evening.

Maguire, who started on the bench after his first call up to Martin O'Neill's squad, replaced Shane Long on 82 minutes to get his first cap for his country.

A brace from Daryl Murphy secured the three points for Ireland to set up a crucial Group D clash with Wales on Monday night.

The Welsh were 1-0 winners against Georgia meaning there's just one point between the two sides in their World Cup qualifying group.

PNE goalkeeper Chris Maxwell was an unused substitute in that game after his first call up to the Wales senior squad.

It's all to play for at the Cardiff City Stadium, kick-off is 7.45pm on Monday 9th October.

We will have reaction from Sean Maguire on his debut over the weekend, congratulations Seani!
