English Martyrs Primary School in Preston will enjoy a school trip like no other after they were drawn to receive the Generation Deepdale school prize.
During the half-time interval of Saturday's fixture against Barnsley, North End's mascot Deepdale Duck was on hand to conduct the draw which saw every school who helped us promote our Generation Deepdale season ticket campaign entered into a prize draw.
The school drawn by Deepdale Duck would not only be invited to Deepdale on a matchday, their pupils and teachers would be invited to come along with them also for free!
You may have noticed that during the off season, as well as billboards, social media campaigns and various other advertising methods promoting the Generation Deepdale season ticket campaign, members of Preston North End and the Community and Education Trust hosted school assemblies to local pupils promoting the fact that U11 season tickets for the 2017/18 campaign are free of charge.
A video was played to the children which showed what they could expect watching Preston North End this season before the Deepdale Duck intruded on proceedings with his usual mischievous mannerisms!
63 schools throughout Preston and surrounding areas in total were entered into the draw, from as far north as Lancaster to as far south as Leyland and Chorley, but the winning schools hails just one mile away from Deepdale Stadium in the form of the Catholic Primary School on Sizer Street.
English Martyrs Primary School and all their pupils will now be invited to Deepdale for the Brentford fixture on Saturday 28th October.
On winning the prize, Headteacher Annalisa Howarth said: "The children and staff loved having Deepdale Duck in school and sharing the assembly with him; I think the lowered pricing is perfect for the U11s as they get so much out of watching and being part of the match and it is now affordable for most.
"It is amazing news that our school has won and I can't wait to tell the children and staff as I know they will share my excitement!
"The roadshow was great fun and as a result we have won this amazing prize!"
We'd like to thank all of the schools for their help and for welcoming us into their school, all of whom are listed below.
