This weekend’s match official comes from the Premier League’s select group one list; Chris Kavanagh, who was promoted to the top tier of match officials this season.
Saturday will be his sixth game of the season, having so far taken charge of two Premier League games, including last Saturday’s goalless draw between Burnley and Huddersfield Town at Turf Moor.
The Greater Manchester referee has issued just 15 cautions in those fixtures and no red cards.
Whilst this is his first PNE game of the season, last year he took charge of two Lilywhites fixtures, which were the clash with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium and the clash with Newcastle United earlier on in the season.
In 2014/15 he also made two trips to Deepdale; the first round Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over Shrewsbury Town, back in September 2014 and the 5-1 home demolition of Crewe Alexandra in March 2015.
On Saturday he will be assisted by Peter Kirkup and Neil Davies, whilst the fourth official will be Martin Coy.
