Calling Primary School Girls! PNE Wildcats Is Coming To Preston

8 April 2018

Preston North End Community and Education Trust are hosting exclusive football sessions for girls of a primary school age throughout areas in Preston for just £1!

The initiative, known as SEE Wildcats Football offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. More than 200 clubs were piloted across England in 2017 and the scheme is now being extended to more than 900 centres with 26,000 participants across the country and the Preston North End Community and Education Trust hosting sessions in a variety of different areas in Preston.

SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football sessions take place on a weekly basis, either after school or at weekends, and provide a safe environment where girls can try football for the first time. SSE and The FA hope the initiative will inspire participants to engage with football, meet new friends, develop fundamental skills, learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.

The sessions will be hosted every week right up until the summer holidays starting from the week commencing 9th April. Each session will run from 3.45pm until 4.45pm at a price of just £1!

Sessions in Preston are as follows:

  • Every Monday
  • Venue: Christ The King High School
  • Every Wednesday
  • Venue: Moor Park High School
  • Every Thursday
  • Venue: Ashton High School
  • Every Friday
  • The Callon All Weather Pitch
  • Every Friday
  • Carr Hill High School

Each SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centre will be run in conjunction with local County FAs and utilise qualified coaches and local facilities. As well as activities for girls, there will also be opportunities for attending parents, carers and siblings to engage with the sport at the same time through ‘Family Sessions’ including Soccercise and Walking football.

The initiative is in line with The FA’s Gameplan for Growth, with the target of doubling girls’ participation in the sport by 2020. The strategy for women’s and girls’ football at grassroots level includes initiatives alongside SSE Wildcats, such as FA Girls’ Football Week and the Preston North End PL Girls Programme.

There’s no need to book, you can simply just turn up to the sessions! For more information, call 01772 693309 or email Mel@pne.com.
