After returning to pitch for the first time since February on Saturday, skipper Tom Clarke is targeting a return to winning ways against Leeds United on Tuesday night.
North End host Paul Heckingbottom's side at Deepdale in the 7.45pm kick-off, and the North End captain admits that there is an air of disappointment after recent results but the squad will be confident going in to Tuesday's clash.
Speaking to iFollow PNE ahead of the game, Clarke said: ""It was good to get back out there, it's been frustrating for me with the little niggles I've picked up but it was nice to be back out there and be there for the team.
"The results are strange in this league, anyone can beat anyone. We are disappointed with the results that we've had but we've got to bounce back on Tuesday.
"We want to go in to the game confident and get the result, concentrate on ourselves and then the other results will take care of themselves.
"You want the results, not the performances. No one remembers when you are getting promoted and that's been the frustrating part, the performances have been good we've just not got the results they have warranted. We want to get the results now and that's what is important to try and kick on."
North End have been narrowly beaten in the last two games despite dominating the majority of both games, and Clarke insists the first goal will be crucial on Tuesday as the squad look to make the pressure count by taking the opportunities that come their way.
"It's about fine margins and this league is difficult and the first goal is important. Reading got that first goal and they sort of sat behind the ball and tried to keep that lead and it was difficult to break them down.
"We know we need to start the game better than we did against Reading and we usually do. We usually come out of the blocks fast and to get that first goal is going to be important.
"It's going to be another difficult game but we need to start quick and put the pressure on straight away.
"Leeds fans travel well, we are back in front of our home fans and we will be looking to bounce back and give them something to shout about. It's going to be a difficult game but we are looking forward to it."
