Manager Alex Neil will give late checks to two of his most experienced players ahead of the clash with the Blades.
Paul Huntington came off at half-time in the goalless draw with Norwich City at Deepdale last Saturday, whilst skipper Tom Clarke played through a tight hamstring in the same game.
The manager has said that both injuries are much less serious than was anticipated and expects both back out on the grass before the trip to Bramall Lane.
If both are available, then he must decide whether to include one, both or neither, with Ben Davies – who came on for Huntington at the interval against the Canaries – and Tommy Spurr both available to come into the reckoning if needed.
Sean Maguire returned to the bench against Daniel Farke’s men and with another week under his belt could be considered for a place in the starting XI, with the manager saying at his pre-match press conference that both sides will be adventurous in their outlook.
A number of options are available if the gaffer chooses to freshen his side, alongside Maguire, with the likes of Johnson, Moult and Harrop all available on the bench last weekend.
