Despite recent results, defender Greg Cunningham insists the squad will be working hard to end the season on a high in the remaining five games.
North End host Leeds United on Tuesday evening in the first of the final five fixtures of the season and the Irishman doesn't feel the mindset within the dressing room has changed with their sights firmly on a strong finish to the campaign.
"We've been written off all season, people's heads started to turn momentarily and now they've written us off again." Greg told iFollow PNE ahead of the visit of Leeds. "Nothing has changed in that respect, we will keep working hard, we know what we have to do, we know what we have in the changing room and we are confident we are capable of getting the results with the fixtures we have left.
"It's going to be a big ask but we are going to keep working hard and keep plugging away."
"Our performances have been good, we just having been getting the results but we've got a good opportunity at home now on Tuesday night against Leeds to put things right.
"The last few results have been very disappointing but we need to dust ourselves off and make sure that we get a good result to match the performances recently and keep going."
North End have dominated recent games but have been unable to find the net in the last two fixtures, Greg is calling for the team and fans to stick together and expects the performances to turn in to wins sooner rather than later.
"Stats don't lie, we've dominated games recently and we haven't got the results but the performances have been there. We have kept faith in what we are doing and we just need to keep battling away and the goals will come.
"We've been working hard, it's been frustrating for us, especially for the fans coming to the games, we understand that completely, but we have to stick together and make sure that we do things right.
"We need to get the ball in the back of the net and it will come.
"We are at the crunch time of the season and it gets to the stage where no matter how you win, you just want to get the points on the board. We've played very well and we just haven't got that luck in front of goal at the minute.
"We will keep going, we will keep working hard. There's five games to go and we want to make sure that we finish the season with a flurry."
