Preston North End Sign Manchester City’s Brandon Barker On A Season-Long Loan

7 August 2018

Preston North End have completed the season-long loan signing of Manchester City winger Brandon Barker.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a year-long move from the Etihad and, subject to the appropriate clearances, will be available for selection in the weekend’s first away game of the season at Swansea City.

Brandon, who will take the No.21 shirt at Deepdale, came through the Academy at City, playing for England at U18, U19 and U20 level.

After a loan spell in Holland with NAC Breda in 2016/17, he spent last season on loan north of the border with Neil Lennon’s Hibernian, where he made 30 appearances, scoring twice.

Speaking after agreeing the move to join Alex Neil’s side, the Manchester-born player said: "I am delighted to get the deal done, as soon as it came up I was buzzing.

"I have had a couple of successful loan spells and I am looking to build on that. Last year in Scotland I did okay and hopefully this year is the same.

"I hope I can show what I do in the games. Hopefully I can help the team as much as I can, work hard and try and give the fans what they want.

"I spoke to the manager and he did a good job of selling the club to me. He is a manager I think I can improve under; he has a young squad with some older faces and I can't wait to get going."
