The Trotters have started the season well; losing their first league game of the season when hosting Sheffield United last weekend, but still sitting third ahead of their visit to PR1.

Parkinson has made a number of changes to the squad over the summer, with some experienced recruits, whilst – according to the media – he is still in the market for more, particularly at the top end of the pitch, after Adam Le Fondre took an opportunity to move to Australia earlier in the month.

Last season’s Deepdale clash between the two sides was goalless, whilst the reverse fixture was Gentry Day, with Tom Barkhuizen levelling matters, after the home side had taken a first half lead, before the returning Sean Maguire grabbed a brace to give the Lilywhites the three points.

As mentioned, there are three derbies this season, with all three of the home clashes, with Bolton, Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers coming before the end of November and PNE will want to make a good start in this last game before the first international break.
