Preston North End v Morecambe Match Preview

13 August 2018

North End start their Carabao Cup campaign by hosting the EFL’s longest serving manager and his side to Deepdale.

Jim Bentley brings his Morecambe team to PR1 for the third time as a manager in the League Cup, looking to spring a shock as he did in back in 2007, although – as you can read in our memorable match article – Alan Irvine’s side got their revenge two years later.

This time around the League Two side will be looking to start their season, after a brace of defeats have started their league campaign, whilst Alex Neil’s side will be looking for a quick reaction to their result down in South Wales at the weekend.

The game could give the opportunity for a number of players who have yet to start a game, if the manager decides to make changes to the side that saw just one change in the opening two games.

It’s a Lancashire derby, meaning the game has an added edge, so make sure you get down to Deepdale and enjoy what should be an entertaining night of football.
