After being nominated by his mum for December's edition of Meet Your Hero, young PNE supporter Thomas received a very special visit from Father Christmas at the Flower Bowl in Preston.
Of course it wasn’t the real Father Christmas, but Thomas was equally as shocked when North End’s Paul Gallagher revealed who it really was under the white beard and red hat.
Thomas, who considers the PNE No. 12 as his favourite player was put forward by his mum, Gemma for the ‘Meet Your Hero’ competition which selects one lucky fan to meet their favourite player every month.
“I nominated Thomas to meet his hero because he’s a massive PNE fan” said Gemma, “but also because I’ve been poorly the last 12 to 18 months and Thomas has been such a brave boy, looking after me and his sister so he deserved this more than anyone.
“He goes on the games with his Grandad and considers Paul as his hero and wants to be just like him when he grows up.”
Father Christmas handed Thomas Christmas presents in the form of a PNE ball, drinks bottle and a home kit, including a shirt with Gallagher on the back, before Thomas, his family and Gally enjoyed a game of bowling at the Flower Bowl in Barton Grange.
“It’s been nice to meet Thomas and his family who’ve had a tough time as of late” said Gallagher. “I’m sure he’s been a good lad, helping his family and it’s good that we’ve been able to put a smile on his face.”
