Clarke Hoping To Build On Forest Win

1 February 2018

Following an emphatic 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, PNE captain Tom Clarke is hoping he and his teammates can get another three points on the board on Saturday at Deepdale.

The Lilywhites sit just three points outside of the Play-Offs going into the weekend, and Clarke is aiming to put on a performance in front of the Deepdale faithful against Hull City.

On Saturday's opposition, the 28-year-old told iFollow PNE: "They haven't done brilliantly so far but you look at the squad that they've got and the players that they've brought in, it will be another tough game but another big game in front of our fans that we want to do well in and get the win and carry on from the good performance against Forest.

"We've put ourselves in a great position and the games are coming thick and fast and these are the games that can make or break it, especially in front of our home fans.

"We want to get the win and get the three points and put us right up there in contention.

"We've got bodies coming back and we've got competition for places at just the right time, that's what we are going to need. We have got a lot of tough games coming up, we are going to need everyone. Hopefully we can achieve what we all want to achieve here.

North End's last home win came against Sheffield United back in December, and with teams coming to Deepdale knowing they are in for a tough game, the skipper admits it can be difficult to break teams down but it's something the squad have been working on.

"It's difficult but it's on us then to break teams down and work on that. The gaffer is thorough in what he does and we will work on Hull and see what they will bring and what weaknesses we can exploit.

"We will play our own game and hopefully take some confidence from the game on Tuesday night going into Saturday against Hull."

Clarke also had a few words to say on the departure of former teammate Jordan Hugill, who joined Premier League side West Ham United on deadline day for a club record fee.

"I'm really pleased for Jordan, he's worked very hard and done really well for us and I wish him the best. It's a brilliant move for him and his family so I look forward to him hopefully doing well for them and scoring some goals for them."
