Fisher: "Teams Have To Be Wary Of Us"

6 February 2018

After making his return to action after a spell on the sidelines with a hip injury, Darnell Fisher is hoping he can play his part in pushing PNE into the top six in the final few months of the season.

Back to back wins against Nottingham Forest and Hull City saw North End climb to seventh in the table, and Fisher felt the results were much needed after the disappointment of the FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.

On the side's current standing in the table, the right back said: "After the FA Cup defeat I think we needed a big result on Tuesday and then again on Saturday and thankfully we got the six points out of those two games.

"We've done really well, even though we've had a bit of blip before the run we're on, we are still in contention.

"People keep writing us off but we are still there and we are still fighting.

"We are in a good position, we've got some tough games coming up but I think we will fancy ourselves in most of the games. We are in a good position and teams have to be wary of us."

Next up for Alex Neil's side is a trip to Griffin Park to face Brentford this weekend, and after a defeat to the Bees back in an injury-plagued October, Fisher is determined not to let the same result happen again.

"It was a hard game here, no doubt it will be even tougher down there, especially with how their stadium is with the fans on top of you, so it will be a hard game but we will look forward to that.

"We don't want any teams doing the double over us so we will go down there the bit between our teeth and hopefully we can get the job done.

Fisher is one of a number of players to return from injury in recent weeks, and the defender feels the squad is strenthening at just the right time.

"It's always hard missing games, when you've been in the team and then you're not in it you want to be with the boys and out there playing. Thankfully I'm back and hopefully I can stay in the team.

"The squad is coming together at the right time now, it's good that everyone is coming back, especially with the run in that we have."
