"It’s A Well Earned Point” Says Ben Davies

17 February 2018

The returning Ben Davies felt today’s 1-1 draw against table toppers Wolves was a point that was hard fought, yet deserving this afternoon.

Davies came back into the side having missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury which he suffered against Birmingham City at Deepdale last month, ensuring free scoring Wolves were limited in their efforts on goal today.

Although there’s a tinge of disappointment that North End didn’t hold on to their 1-0 lead after Alan Browne headed the Lilywhites in front, having played with ten men for the last half hour against the Championship’s standout side, Davies reflected positively on this afternoon’s stalemate.

Post-match, Davies stated:

“In the end it’s a well earned point; it’s always difficult when the league leaders come to Deepdale; They’re a good side and being with ten men for the last half hour, it’s a good point.

“The last couple of games at Deepdale, we haven’t started very well so it was definitely in our mind to start the game well and get into them.

“Their quality came through towards the end of the half but the gaffer came in at half-time and just told us to believe we can do it because we’ve got good players and they’re not unbeatable. We definitely took that into the second half and we deservedly got the goal.

“We saw the week before against Brentford that we stuck together. We’re hard to beat and our mindset definitely changed when the red card came. We let them have the ball and waited for them to come to us to get a point out of the game which we got in the end.

“We’ve played some good sides in that run and we’re going out every week and showing sides we’re hard to beat and we just need to keep that going now.

"We’ve got a tough game against Villa on Tuesday but we go there with one defeat in 16 so there’s no reason why we can’t put on a performance and get three points.

"We’re still seventh in the league, in a good position in the league with plenty of games left - we need to attack every game and believe we can beat these sides because we’ve played everybody at least once and we know we’re a match for anybody.”

Having missed the last three games due to injury and illness, Davies was delighted to be back in the fold today - and is determined to end the season injury free.

He continued: “It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for me, and with my appendix out earlier than the season, it’s been a bit stop, start for me but now I’m back, I felt good out there today and I just want to stay in the team and play some games.”
