After joining the club in January, Louis Moult is enjoying his first pre-season at Springfields.
The striker became the first signing of the January window at the start of the year, and is looking forward to kicking on in the 2018/19 campaign after a full pre-season with the squad under manager Alex Neil.
Speaking to iFollow PNE about pre-season so far, the 26-year-old said: "I'm enjoying it, it's good to be back working hard, the weather has been with us so that's been good. It's been really enjoyable.
"The weather has been beautiful, we've done some great stuff in training and we've all enjoyed it, there's been lots of smiles on faces.
"Joining in January allowed me to get familiar with the place and then having this pre-season is going to help me to get fitter and stronger and hopefully that helps for the new season.
Moult was on the scoresheet in the first pre-season game of the summer against Bamber Bridge, and was delighted to net his first goal early on in the pre-season schedule.
"Every striker wants to get off the mark and get on the scoresheet, that was pleasing from a personal point of view. It was a good performance all round.
"We've got another game on Saturday against AFC Fylde so that will be a bit trickier and from then on it will get trickier but that's important. Our performances need to keep improving and we aim to keep improving and aim higher.
"It doesn't matter what you do in training, there's a certain type of fitness that you need in a game that is hard to get out in training and that's exactly what the games bring. That extra five per cent of match fitness and awareness more than anything."
With the season three weeks away, Moult added: "I'm really excited, it's not that long away now so I can't wait for that first game, hopefully we can start on a high and continue that throughout the season. Everyone is chomping at the bit and can't wait to get going."
